Crispy Chilli Beef with Sesame and Soy Noodles

Asia just has it covered for flavour packed quick and easy street food. Whether it’s noodles, rice, chicken, beef, veggies or seafood you can guarantee there’s something for pretty much every palate. This recipe serves 2 and once you’ve marinaded the beef for a few hours or overnight the cooking part only takes a few minutes.

 

1 Sirloin Steak

Rice Noodles (check pack for portions)

2 Spring Onions

1 Inch Ginger

2 Cloves of Garlic

1 tbs Sesame Seeds

3 tbs Cornflour

1 tsp Garlic Powder

 

To marinade the beef.

1. Take the beef and cover with cling-film and give it a good bash with a rolling pin then cut in to finger sized strips.

2. Put the beef in a bowl then add 1 tbs light soy, 1 tbs dark soy, 1/2 tsp grated ginger, 1 tsp sesame oil. Give it a good mix then pop in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight for a deeper flavour

 

For the Sauce

2 tbs Light Soy

1 tbs Dark Soy

1 tbs Clear Honey

1 tsp Sesame Oil

2 tbs Tomato Ketchup

Juice of 1 Lime

1/2 Inch Grated Ginger

1 Clove of Garlic

1 tsp Lee Kum Kee Chiu Chow Chilli Oil

1 tsp Lee Kum Kee Chilli Bean Paste

 

Mix it all up in a bowl and set aside until ready.

 

1. In a bowl add the cornflour, garlic salt, a little white pepper and a pinch of salt.

2. Take the beef out of the fridge and allow to come up to room temperature for about 20 minutes.

3. In a frying pan pour in sunflower oil to a depth of about 1 cm. Turn the heat up to a medium/high heat.

4. Roll the strips of beef over in the cornflour and then tap off the excess.

5. Slice up your spring onions then put the noodles in to boiling salted water and cook as per the instruction until soft.

6. Meanwhile carefully drop the beef strips in to the oil and cook for about 1 minute before turning over.

7. Take out the beef and drain on kitchen paper then drain off your noodles before adding 1/2 the spring onions, 1 tbs of light soy and 1 tsp of sesame oil.

8. Drop the beef in to your sauce and shake up until each piece is well coated.

9. Assemble by dividing up the noodles. Top with beef then sprinkle over the remaining spring onions and sesame seeds.
